Cindy Song, LCSW

My personal therapy journey began in 2019. I was depressed, anxious, struggling with PTSD symptoms, and honestly — just tired. The idea of going to therapy felt like a contradiction. I was a grown, self-sufficient woman. I didn't need help. As a first-generation, first-born immigrant daughter, that belief ran deep.

But when I found myself losing the motivation to keep going, I knew something had to change. Therapy changed my life. It gave me the skills to manage my emotions and quiet the negative thought patterns that had been so loud for so long. And somewhere along the way, my therapist looked at me and said I should get paid to be a therapist — because I was already doing it for everyone I loved anyway.

That was the beginning. Over the past five years, I have dedicated myself to expanding my knowledge, skills, and capacity so that I can now offer others what was once offered to me.

Choosing a Korean word for this practice was deeply intentional. I wanted to honor my heritage — and to give my parents, who speak limited English, a way to truly understand what I do and why it matters so much to me. When I explained it to my mom, she simply said, "Oh, like opening your heart to life." That was it. That was everything.

Pium — to blossom — is about the full journey of life, moving through every season with grace. I am so excited to walk alongside you in yours.
